Hi everyone It's all been a bit quiet on the WACA front lately, not int terms of the work happening out there, but the website & e-group have been quiet quiet quiet!! So, what I want to get us talking about is what about our future? We have a tiny amount in the bank so it's hard to develop much on no money... we're not short of ideas and I still want to represent our amazing sector, but need some resources to do it well (money! development worker!)... am going to talk to the Arts Council, but we have not been asked to apply..any other ideas?? Also, we really wnat another gathering for Community Artists if we can get some funding, do you want to gather (maybe Spring), and if so, what do you wnat from that? Thanks people, keep up the creative work! Alex Bowen, Chair

Valley and Vale Community Arts is pleased to announce that we have been successful in our application to the Arts Council of Wales for a Beacon Award. We propose to create an innovative Community Arts for Development programme with our Beacon Company Award - to further strengthen, develop and promote our work. This award will enable us to develop and consolidate our reputation as leaders in the field of Community Arts in Wales and beyond. We will use the award to disseminate and share our work and experience with a wider audience, building new networks of cultural exchange and increasing the impact of our work. The award will give us greater capacity to proactively develop dynamic new initiatives for Community Arts in Wales. We will employ 2 new leading Community Arts practitioners who will work with us to develop new Beacon-status model Community Arts initiatives, extending our strategic aims and ambitions and promoting our work both nationally and internationally.

Welcome to the first waca website! Some of the best things are worth waiting for! To me this feels like the opening of many new doors into our future, and to do this we await your vibrant, imaginative, funny, questioning, challenging, campaigning, reflective, supportive, and creative inputs... At last we will finally have a web presence which really starts to reflect what an amazing sector we are! Community Arts is something to celebrate. We are the Wales Association of Community Artists and we are here for you. The waca website is here - let's use it, create it, challenge it, develop it. After all, creativity and change is what we do. Thanks to ACW for funding this and BlackCatDesign and waca members for making it. This is the start.
